In short
RPM is earnings per 1,000 views: earnings ÷ views × 1,000. TikTok Creator Rewards pays only on qualified views of videos over one minute and is commonly reported at $0.40–$1.00 RPM; YouTube pays creators 55% of long-form ad revenue, giving typical RPMs of $1–$5, with Shorts near $0.05–$0.10.
Who this is for: Creators and agencies working out what TikTok Creator Rewards or YouTube views actually pay, and what a view target is worth.
How RPM works on TikTok and YouTube
RPM (revenue per mille) is what you earn per 1,000 views: RPM = earnings ÷ views × 1,000. It is the number that matters for creators, because it already reflects the platform's cut and the views that were not monetised.
- TikTok Creator Rewards Program pays on qualified views — views on original videos longer than one minute, once the video has passed 1,000 views. Reported RPMs are commonly $0.40–$1.00, higher for "search value" topics (how-to, finance, education) and audiences in the US, UK, Germany and similar markets. Eligibility requires 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in the last 30 days in a supported country.
- YouTube Partner Program pays creators 55% of long-form ad revenue and 45% of the Shorts ad pool. Advertisers pay a CPM per 1,000 ad impressions; because not every view shows an ad, RPM is usually well below CPM × 0.55.
Pakistan, the UAE and Saudi Arabia are not yet in TikTok's Creator Rewards list, so creators there usually earn through YouTube, brand deals and TikTok LIVE gifts instead; Pakistani creators are commonly reported at YouTube RPMs of $0.20–$1.00 because of where their audiences are located.

Assumptions
- RPM = earnings ÷ views × 1,000; earnings = views ÷ 1,000 × RPM.
- YouTube implied monetised-view share = RPM ÷ (CPM × 0.55), where 0.55 is the creator's long-form revenue share.
- Benchmark ranges shown are commonly reported figures, not platform-published rates.
Worked example
RPM = 180 ÷ 250,000 × 1,000 = $0.72 per 1,000 views — inside the commonly reported $0.40–$1.00 range.
At that RPM, 1 million qualified views would pay about $720.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my TikTok RPM so much lower than YouTube's?
TikTok Creator Rewards pays from a fixed pool per qualified view rather than from ad auctions, and only videos over one minute qualify. YouTube long-form runs pre-roll and mid-roll ads sold at auction, which pays more per view in advertiser-heavy countries.
Do views from Pakistan, India or the Gulf pay less?
Yes, on both platforms. Payouts follow where the viewer is, not where the creator is, because advertiser demand differs by country. The same video earns several times more from US or UK viewers than from South Asian viewers.
What is the difference between RPM and CPM?
CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions. RPM is what the creator receives per 1,000 video views after the platform's share and after non-monetised views. RPM is always the smaller number.
Is TikTok Creator Rewards available in Pakistan, UAE or Saudi Arabia?
As of the last check it was available in the US, UK, Germany, France, Brazil, Japan, South Korea and a growing list of others — but not Pakistan, the UAE or Saudi Arabia. Check TikTok's own eligibility page, since the list changes.
How much does TikTok pay for 1 million views?
At the commonly reported Creator Rewards RPM of $0.40–$1.00, about $400–$1,000 — but only qualified views on videos over one minute count, and only in eligible countries.
How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views in Pakistan?
Commonly reported RPMs for Pakistani-audience channels are $0.20–$1.00, versus $2–$5 for US or UK audiences, because advertisers bid less for South Asian viewers.
