How age is calculated
Your age in years is the number of birthdays that have passed; months and days are then counted from the last birthday, borrowing days from the previous month where needed (someone born on 31 January is 1 month old on 28 February in a non-leap year, by the usual convention). Total days are the exact count between the two dates, which is what the weeks, hours and lunar-years figures are derived from.
- Age limits for jobs and exams: CSS (Pakistan) 21–30 on the cut-off date, with relaxations up to 32 for some quotas; PPSC/FPSC posts typically 18–35 with provincial relaxations; Saudi and UAE work visas often require applicants under 60. Enter the limit and cut-off date to check where you stand.
- Hijri age runs about 3% faster than Gregorian age because a lunar year is 354–355 days; a 33-year-old is roughly 34 in lunar years. Use our Hijri converter for exact dates.
- 29 February births celebrate on 28 February or 1 March in non-leap years; the calculator uses 1 March for the next-birthday line.

Worked example
Exact age 30 years, 1 month, 16 days — 11,004 days. Next birthday 15 August 2027.
Age-limit check: turned 30 on 15 August 2026, so already 30 or over on 1 October 2026 — outside a strict "under 30" limit unless a relaxation applies.

Why does my age differ from the CNIC or passport?
Documents show the date of birth, not an age; if the printed date differs from your real birthday the document date is what every authority will use.
How is age calculated for school admission in Pakistan?
By the child's age on a cut-off date set by the school or board (often 1 April or the first day of the session); enter that date in the 'age on this date' field.
Is this the same as Korean age or lunar age?
No. Korean age (now officially abolished) added a year at birth; lunar age counts Hijri or Chinese lunar years. The main figure here is international civil age.
