UK calculators — take-home pay, stamp duty, VAT, dividends, corporation tax

28 free tools. Every one runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

These calculators use HMRC's published rates for the 2026/27 tax year — the frozen £12,570 personal allowance, 20/40/45% income tax bands, 8%/2% employee National Insurance, the dividend rates that rose in April 2026, SDLT bands for England and Northern Ireland, and corporation tax with marginal relief. Each page carries the date its figures were checked and links to the gov.uk page they come from.

They cover England, Wales and Northern Ireland; Scotland sets its own income tax bands and land transaction tax, and Wales its own LTT, which are not modelled. Employment tools — redundancy pay and holiday entitlement — apply the statutory minimum, which contracts can exceed.

Salary

UK Take-Home Pay Calculator 2026/27

Work out your monthly take-home pay after income tax, National Insurance, pension contributions and student loan for the 2026/27 tax year (England, Wales & NI).

In 2026/27 UK take-home pay is gross salary minus income tax (20% above the £12,570 personal allowance, 40% above £50,270, 45% above £125,140), employee National Insurance (8% between £12,570 and £50,270, 2% above), pension contributions and student loan repayments at 9% above the plan threshold.

UK Statutory Redundancy Pay Calculator

Calculate statutory redundancy pay from your age, years of service and weekly pay, applying the statutory weekly cap and 20-year limit.

UK statutory redundancy pay, after two years' service, is half a week's pay for each year worked under age 22, one week for each year aged 22–40 and one and a half weeks for each year from 41, up to 20 years and a statutory weekly pay cap. It is tax-free.

UK Holiday Entitlement Calculator

Holiday entitlement calculator for the UK: statutory annual leave (5.6 weeks) for full-time, part-time, irregular-hours and pro-rata workers, including starters, leavers and bank holidays.

UK workers are entitled to 5.6 weeks of paid holiday a year — 28 days for a five-day week, pro-rated for part-time (e.g. 16.8 days for three days a week) and capped at 28 days. Irregular-hours workers accrue 12.07% of hours worked.

Open the calculator

UK Pro-Rata Salary Calculator

Convert a full-time salary to part-time pro-rata pay from your weekly hours or days, with the hourly rate, monthly pay and pro-rated holiday entitlement.

Pro-rata salary = full-time salary × (your weekly hours ÷ full-time hours), with 37.5 hours the usual UK full-time week: £32,000 FTE on 22.5 hours is £19,200. The hourly rate is salary ÷ (FTE hours × 52.143), and holiday is pro-rated from 28 days (5.6 weeks) — 16.8 days for a 3-day week.

UK Salary Sacrifice & Pension Tax Relief Calculator

See what a pension contribution really costs you after tax and National Insurance relief — salary sacrifice vs relief at source — and how much employer NI it frees up.

With salary sacrifice a UK pension contribution saves income tax and National Insurance (8% up to £50,270, 2% above) and the employer saves 15% employer NI, so £100 into the pension costs a basic-rate taxpayer about £72 and a higher-rate taxpayer about £58; relief at source gives the same tax relief but no NI saving, and higher-rate taxpayers must reclaim the extra 20% via Self Assessment.

UK VAT Calculator

Add VAT to a net price or extract the VAT from a gross amount at the UK standard 20%, reduced 5% or zero rate.

UK VAT is 20% standard, 5% reduced and 0% zero-rated. To add VAT multiply by 1.2; to remove it divide the gross by 1.2. Businesses must register once taxable turnover exceeds £90,000 in a rolling 12 months.

In 2026/27 UK dividends above the £500 allowance are taxed at 10.75% in the basic-rate band, 35.75% in the higher-rate band and 39.35% in the additional-rate band, after salary and other income have used up the bands. Dividends carry no National Insurance.

UK capital gains tax for 2026/27 is 18% on gains that fit within your unused basic-rate band and 24% above it, for property, shares and crypto alike, after a £3,000 annual exempt amount; Business Asset Disposal Relief gains are taxed at 18% up to £1 million. Residential property sales must be reported and paid within 60 days.

UK Self-Employed Tax Calculator 2026/27

Estimate income tax and Class 4 National Insurance on sole-trader profits for 2026/27, your take-home, and the January and July payments on account.

A UK sole trader in 2026/27 pays income tax on profits above the £12,570 personal allowance (20% to £50,270, 40% to £125,140, 45% above) plus Class 4 National Insurance of 6% on profits between £12,570 and £50,270 and 2% above; Class 2 is treated as paid once profits reach £7,105. Bills over £1,000 trigger two payments on account of 50% each for the following year.

UK Inheritance Tax Calculator

Estimate inheritance tax on an estate using the £325,000 nil-rate band, the £175,000 residence band for a home left to children, a transferred spouse allowance and the 36% charity rate.

UK inheritance tax is 40% on the part of an estate above the £325,000 nil-rate band (36% if 10%+ goes to charity), plus a £175,000 residence nil-rate band when a home passes to children or grandchildren, tapered away above £2 million; unused bands transfer to a surviving spouse, giving couples up to £1 million tax-free. Thresholds are frozen until April 2030.

UK Child Benefit & High Income Charge Calculator

Work out your Child Benefit for any number of children and the High Income Child Benefit Charge between £60,000 and £80,000 — plus how a pension contribution can reduce it.

Child Benefit is £27.05 a week for the eldest child and £17.90 for each other child (£2,337.40 a year for two). The High Income Child Benefit Charge claws back 1% for every £200 of the higher earner's adjusted net income above £60,000, so the whole benefit is repaid at £80,000; pension contributions reduce adjusted net income and the charge.

UK VAT Flat Rate Scheme Calculator

Compare what you would pay HMRC on the Flat Rate Scheme (your sector's percentage, the 1% first-year discount, the 16.5% limited-cost rule) against standard VAT accounting.

On the UK VAT Flat Rate Scheme you pay HMRC a sector percentage of VAT-inclusive turnover — 4% to 14.5% — instead of output minus input VAT, with a 1% discount in the first year; but a limited cost business (goods under 2% of turnover or £1,000 a year) must use 16.5%, which is 19.8% of net sales. Join under £150,000 turnover; leave above £230,000.

UK Stamp Duty (SDLT) Calculator

Stamp Duty Land Tax in England and Northern Ireland is 0% up to £125,000, 2% to £250,000, 5% to £925,000, 10% to £1.5 million and 12% above, charged in slices. First-time buyers pay 0% up to £300,000 and 5% to £500,000; additional properties add a 5% surcharge to every band.

UK Mortgage Affordability Calculator

How much mortgage can you afford in the UK? Estimate what you could borrow from salary (4.5× income), deposit and a stressed rate, with the monthly repayment — plus self-build, help-to-buy and offset notes.

UK lenders typically lend up to 4.5 times joint income (5–5.5 times for some higher earners), at up to 95% loan-to-value, and stress-test the repayment at a rate above the product rate. A 5% deposit therefore caps the price at 20 times the deposit regardless of income.

UK Mortgage Repayment Calculator

Work out your monthly mortgage payment on repayment or interest-only, the total interest over the term, and how much a regular overpayment saves in interest and years.

A UK repayment mortgage's monthly payment is P × r × (1+r)^n ÷ ((1+r)^n − 1) with r the monthly rate and n the months: £250,000 at 4.5% over 25 years is about £1,390 a month with £166,900 total interest. Interest-only pays just P × r (£938) and leaves the capital owed. Overpaying £200 a month clears that loan about 5 years early and saves roughly £38,500.

UK Buy-to-Let Profit & Tax Calculator

Work out a UK rental property's real profit after mortgage interest (Section 24 20% credit), management, maintenance and voids, and the income tax due at your rate.

Since Section 24, individual UK landlords cannot deduct mortgage interest from rental profit; the profit is taxed at 20/40/45% and a 20% tax credit on the interest is given instead, so a higher-rate taxpayer with a 75% mortgage can owe tax on a cash loss. Allowable costs still include agent fees, repairs, insurance and safety certificates.

UK Corporation Tax Calculator

Calculate corporation tax on company profits, including the small profits rate, main rate and marginal relief between £50,000 and £250,000.

UK corporation tax is 19% on profits up to £50,000 and 25% on profits of £250,000 or more. Between those limits, marginal relief of 3/200 × (£250,000 − profit) is deducted from the 25% charge, giving an effective marginal rate of 26.5%. Limits are shared between associated companies.

UK Student Loan Repayment Calculator

See your monthly student loan repayment on Plan 1, 2, 4, 5 or Postgraduate from your salary, how long the balance takes to clear at a given interest rate, and whether it will be written off first.

UK student loan repayments are 9% of income above the plan threshold — £26,900 (Plan 1), £29,385 (Plan 2), £33,795 (Plan 4), £25,000 (Plan 5) — or 6% above £21,000 for Postgraduate loans in 2026/27, deducted through PAYE and written off after 25, 30 or 40 years; most Plan 2 and Plan 5 graduates never clear the balance, so overpaying rarely pays.

Pension Tax Relief Calculator 2026/27

Tax relief on your 2026/27 pension contribution: effective rate, what you pay from take-home, basic-rate relief added at source, the higher-rate relief to claim, NI saved by salary sacrifice, the £60,000 annual allowance and taper check and the cost of each £1 saved.

UK pension contributions get tax relief at your marginal rate — 20%, 40% or 45%, and effectively 60% between £100,000 and £125,140 where the personal allowance is tapered — on contributions up to your earnings and the £60,000 annual allowance (tapered to £10,000 for adjusted incomes over £260,000). Relief-at-source schemes add 20% automatically; higher-rate taxpayers must claim the rest through Self Assessment. Salary sacrifice also saves 8% / 2% employee NI.

ISA Calculator

How much an ISA saves versus a taxable account over your horizon — dividend or interest tax at your band, CGT on sale, final values, the ISA advantage and a check against the £20,000 allowance. 2026/27 rates confirmed on gov.uk.

An ISA shelters interest, dividends and capital gains from tax with nothing to declare; outside one, a higher-rate taxpayer in 2026/27 pays 35.75% on dividends above £500, 40% on interest above £500 and 24% CGT on gains above £3,000. Over 20 years that drag typically costs 15–20% of the final pot. The allowance is £20,000 per adult per tax year (£9,000 Junior ISA, £4,000 Lifetime ISA within it), and the cash ISA limit is due to fall for under-65s from April 2027.

Lifetime ISA Calculator

Your Lifetime ISA pot with the 25% government bonus — contributions, bonus, growth, deposit as a share of your target home (alone or with a partner), the £450,000 cap check, the withdrawal penalty and the maximum lifetime bonus.

A Lifetime ISA, opened between 18 and 39, takes up to £4,000 a year (within the £20,000 ISA allowance) and the government adds a 25% bonus — up to £1,000 a year, or £33,000 over a lifetime. The money can be used penalty-free for a first home costing up to £450,000 after 12 months, or from age 60; any other withdrawal costs 25% of the amount taken, which claws back the bonus plus 6.25% of your own money.

Company Car Tax Calculator 2026/27

Your 2026/27 company car tax — the BiK percentage for your car’s CO2 or electric range, the taxable benefit, tax per month at your rate, fuel benefit, employer Class 1A NI, the salary-sacrifice comparison and future-year rates. HMRC table confirmed.

Company car tax is the car's P11D value multiplied by an appropriate percentage set by its CO2 emissions — 4% for electric cars in 2026/27, 4–16% for plug-in hybrids depending on electric range, and 17% to 37% for petrol and diesel (plus 4% for non-RDE2 diesels) — then taxed at your income tax rate. A £42,000 EV costs a higher-rate taxpayer about £56 a month; the same car at 130 g/km petrol would cost about £450 a month. The employer pays 15% Class 1A NI on the benefit.

Employer NI Calculator 2026/27

The full cost of employing someone in the UK in 2026/27 — 15% employer NI less the £10,500 Employment Allowance, auto-enrolment pension, apprenticeship levy, other costs, on-cost percentage, cost per hour worked and how much the employee takes home.

Employing someone in the UK in 2026/27 costs the salary plus 15% employer National Insurance on everything above £5,000 (less the £10,500 Employment Allowance for eligible employers), at least 3% employer pension on qualifying earnings between £6,240 and £50,270, the apprenticeship levy for pay bills over £3 million, and benefits — typically 15–25% on top of salary for statutory items and 30–50% with benefits, space and equipment. No employer NI is due on under-21s or apprentices under 25 up to £50,270.

Bonus Tax Calculator 2026/27

How much of your bonus you keep in 2026/27 — income tax, NI, student loan and the child benefit charge, your true marginal rate, the 60% personal-allowance trap, what sacrificing part into your pension saves and the gross bonus needed to bank £10,000.

A bonus is taxed as ordinary income at your marginal rate: 28% (20% tax + 8% NI) for basic-rate taxpayers, 42% for higher-rate, 62% between £100,000 and £125,140 where the personal allowance is withdrawn, and 47% above — plus 9% for a student loan and the child benefit charge between £60,000 and £80,000. PAYE may over-withhold in the month it is paid and correct later. Sacrificing the bonus into your pension before payment avoids income tax and NI entirely.

Pension Drawdown Calculator

Draw down your pension: tax-free cash (£268,275 allowance), year-1 withdrawal and tax, net income, how long the pot lasts, the sustainable withdrawal rate, upfront vs phased tax-free cash, the emergency-tax warning and the £10,000 MPAA.

In flexi-access drawdown you can take 25% of your pension tax-free (up to the £268,275 lump sum allowance) at once or gradually, and the rest is taxed as income in the year withdrawn at 20/40/45% on top of other income, so keeping total income under £50,270 saves tax. A withdrawal of about 3.5–4% of the pot a year, rising with inflation, has historically lasted 30 years; first withdrawals are often emergency-taxed and reclaimable, and taking taxable income triggers the £10,000 money purchase annual allowance.

Tax-Free Childcare Calculator

Your Tax-Free Childcare top-up: what you pay in and the 20% the government adds, the £2,000 / £4,000 per-child caps, monthly saving, a comparison with childcare vouchers, the £100,000 cliff warning and how it stacks with funded hours.

Tax-Free Childcare adds £2 for every £8 you pay into an online childcare account — a 20% top-up worth up to £2,000 a year per child under 12 (£4,000 for a disabled child under 17), paid quarterly up to £500. Both parents must earn at least about £2,700 a quarter and each have adjusted net income under £100,000; it cannot be combined with Universal Credit childcare or vouchers but stacks with 15/30 funded hours, and a pension contribution that keeps income under £100,000 preserves both.

IR35 Calculator 2026/27

Inside vs outside IR35 for your day rate in 2026/27 — umbrella deductions (margin, 15% employer NI, levy, PAYE) versus limited-company corporation tax, salary and dividends — annual take-home each way, the difference and the inside rate needed to match.

Inside IR35 the umbrella or agency deducts its margin, 15% employer NI and the 0.5% apprenticeship levy from your day rate before running PAYE, so take-home is typically 50–60% of the contract value; outside IR35 your limited company deducts expenses and pension, pays 19–25% corporation tax, and you take a £12,570 salary plus dividends taxed at 10.75% / 35.75%, netting about 60–70%. At 2026/27 rates the gap is a few thousand pounds at £120,000 of billing and much larger when the company funds a pension.

Director Salary vs Dividend Calculator 2026/27

Salary vs dividends for a UK limited company director in 2026/27 — employer NI, corporation tax with marginal relief, dividend tax at the new rates, total tax and take-home, a £5,000 / £12,570 / all-salary comparison and the best salary for your profit.

For a UK owner-director in 2026/27 a £12,570 salary is usually optimal: it attracts no income tax or employee NI, is deductible for corporation tax and earns a State Pension year, while the employer NI it triggers (15% above £5,000, about £1,136, or nil with the Employment Allowance) is smaller than the corporation and dividend tax saved. The rest is taken as dividends from post-tax profit — £500 tax-free, then 10.75% in the basic band and 35.75% above — and employer pension contributions are the most efficient extraction of all.
